Policy on cookies and other trackers

The business model of the site (hereinafter the "Site") has historically been based on the display of personalised advertising based on the use of advertising cookies, which make it possible to track the browsing habits of Internet users and target their centres of interest. The new regulations on cookies no longer allow the Site to rely solely on this source of revenue. Consequently, in order to be able to maintain the financing of the Site and provide the services offered while offering you the same quality of editorial content that is constantly renewed, we are offering you the opportunity to choose between the following two access alternatives:

  • Access the site for €2 for 1 month without advertising cookies
  • Access the site free of charge by accepting advertising cookies

The purpose of this page is to provide you with clear and transparent information about the use of cookies and other tracking devices when you visit the site.

1. WHAT IS A COOKIE?

When you consult an online service, information is recorded in connection cookies, which are text files, commonly known as "cookies", installed in a dedicated space on the hard disk of your terminal (computer, smartphone or tablet). Cookies are used to send information to the Internet user's browser and enable the browser to send information back to the original site (for example a session identifier or language choice).

Only the sender of the Cookie concerned is likely to read or modify the information contained therein.

When you visit the Site, we inform you that cookies are installed on your terminal equipment.

2. OTHER TYPES OF COOKIES

Other types of cookies are also used, such as invisible pixels, also known as web bugs or web beacons. These take the form of tiny graphic images and may be placed on the Site or in an e-mail.

Their function is to collect technical information (e.g. your IP address or the type of device you are using) and information about your activity (e.g. the date and time you visit a page) or to enable a cookie to be deposited to send this information back to a server.

The invisible pixels placed on e-mails are used to track certain of your behaviours, such as opening the e-mail or clicking on a link in the e-mail, in order to :

  • measure the impact of prospecting campaigns ;
  • measure your level of engagement with their content and provide you with more relevant content.

3. WHAT COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING DEVICES ARE USED WHEN YOU BROWSE THE SITE?

The cookies and other tracers used (hereinafter referred to together as "Cookies") are used on the Site for various purposes, namely to facilitate your browsing, to offer you targeted content and advertising and to compile visit statistics.

  • To store information relating, for example, to a form you have filled in or a service (registration, access to your account).

These technical Cookies are based on our legitimate interests and are deposited as soon as you arrive on the Site in order to provide you with a quality service.

Advertising Cookies

The purpose of advertising cookies is to enable us to adapt the advertisements displayed on our Site or on those of our partners according to your centres of interest, to measure your interaction with these advertisements (impressions, clicks, behaviour generated by the click), to measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign in order to remunerate our advertising partners and to limit the frequency of display.

These advertising cookies are deposited by means of computer code, known as a "tag", supplied by our commercial partners and which we integrate into the source code of the pages of our site. They may also be inserted by our partners via advertisements displayed on the site.

Mediarithmics technology enables Webedia to segment the Site's audience and to personalise the advertising offered to you. Webedia and Mediarithmics, acting as joint data processors, may also reconcile the advertising identifiers concerning you. To find out more about this solution, you may consult the Mediarithmics personal data protection charter(https://www.mediarithmics.com/fr-fr/content/charte-de-protection-des-donnees-personnelles).

While browsing the websites of the Webedia group, we may use a personalized identifier to enhance your browsing experience on the site, for the purpose of content personalization and advertising. This identifier is stored in a cookie and is regulated by the consents given on the sites of a network of publishers participating in the First-ID initiative. This identifier does not allow us to identify you directly, but it does enable us to track your browsing in order to better understand you.
