The gardens and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

Nestling on the superb Cap Ferrat peninsula, this is one of the pearls of the Côte d'Azur.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is the dream image of an Italian-style palace on the Côte d'Azur. It was designed in 1905 by Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild.

The villa was built, in part, to house her extraordinary collection of works of art (over 5,000 items). The highly eclectic collection ranges from paintings to sculpture and porcelain.

The other highlight of the site is the superb gardens surrounding the Villa Ephrussi-de-Rothschild.

The various planted areas cover more than 7 hectares, with no fewer than 9 gardens with different themes.

These include

  • a French garden with water features, cascades and the Temple of Love as its centrepiece
  • a Spanish garden around a narrow canal lined with exotic plants
  • a Florentine garden with beautiful cypress trees
  • a Japanese garden where serenity reigns supreme!
  • a lapidary garden with its works of art and undergrowth atmosphere
  • an exotic garden with lush vegetation
  • a Provençal garden, a fragrant stroll through pine trees and maquis plants
  • a rose garden with a wide variety of species.

Admission to the villa is not free. The villa and gardens are open all year round.

The Kerylos villa

Built at the very beginning of the 20th century (1902), Villa Kérylos was the dream of one man, the archaeologist Théodore Reinach.

Facing the Mediterranean Sea, east of the Baie des Fourmis in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, this is a marvellous villa. In fact, it's a perfect copy of an ancient Greek residence!

The materials and techniques used are as close as possible to a Greek residence, and the result is stunning!

From the windows of Villa Kérylos, the view of the Mediterranean Sea and Cap Ferrat is breathtaking.

The villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden overlooking the sea, a real invitation to travel...

Admission fee required. Villa Kérylos is open all year round. The establishment is closed for works, so please ask before your visit.
