Top 10 of the most beautiful hotels in Djerba

Covering an area of 514 km², Djerba is home to around 150 establishments, twenty of which have an integrated thalassotherapy centre. All offer bathing, thermal and other spa treatments. The hammam is a must, as is the Moorish café where you can smoke chicha with a mint tea accompanied by oriental sweets. Hotels are concentrated along the coastline with its crystal-clear waters, particularly on the east coast in the tourist area of Midoun. It goes without saying that hotels on the front line are preferred! Some feature the architecture of the menzel, Djerba's traditional dwelling, in dazzling white! Thalasso, club, adult only, palace, dar, here are our top hotels in Djerba.

One of the most luxurious hotels in Tunisia and the country's largest thalassa spa.

The Hasdrubal Prestige Thalassa Spa is the most luxurious hotel in Djerba, if not the whole of Tunisia, and one of the largest, but it would be a shame to choose it just for its upmarket setting. The hotel boasts some unique facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool known as the "three waters". Its pools are supplied with seawater, freshwater and thermal water. The Hasdrubal Prestige thalassotherapy centre, the largest in Tunisia (11,000 m² on three levels), is also a marvel, with its marine trail under a glass roof, its private cabins and its baths filled with thermal or fresh water, depending on the treatment.

Add four restaurants and luxurious rooms measuring a minimum of 100 m² and you have an idea of this exceptional establishment, located directly opposite the superb Sidi Mehrez beach, one of the most beautiful in Djerba, which stretches out at the foot of the hotel. The boat-shaped beach bar overlooks the sea: a must! It's a picture-postcard beach: fine, soft white sand, crystal-clear water. The only thing missing is the coconut palms to make you think you're in the Caribbean!

Dar Dhiafa

The charm of a traditional home in the heart of Djerba.

Light years away from the hustle and bustle of club hotels, Dar Dhiafa is to Tunisia what a riad is to Morocco. But while this type of accommodation is common in Marrakech, it is still rare and confidential in Djerba. A nugget nestled inland in the charming village of Erriadh, home to Djerbahood street art and close to the famous Ghriba synagogue. This adorable boutique hotel is housed in several old traditional houses. Add to that a mini-spa, a restaurant and an annex on the seafront: smile, you're in a fairytale from the Arabian Nights!

Once upon a time, on a small island not far away, there were five old traditional houses that were beginning to fall into disrepair. But a young Frenchman restored them and joined them together to create a single establishment. Today, Dar Dhiafa religiously preserves traces of its past history while offering the comfort of a modern boutique hotel. A haven of peace where cupolas, wrought iron gates, wooden doors, patios, terraces, swimming pools and multicoloured bougainvillea blend harmoniously. It's hard not to fall in love with the authenticity of the place and the meticulous decoration of the comfortable rooms. And you won't be able to resist the delicious, inventive cuisine, with its taste of 'home-made'.

Robinson Club Djerba Bahiya

A lively top-of-the-range club in a desert ksar setting.

The architectural style of Robinson Club Djerba Bahiya leaves no one indifferent. You can see this hotel from afar with its architecture straight out of a Disneyland park! Except that the theme here is not Mickey Mouse, but the Tunisian ksar and the troglodyte dwellings of the desert! As soon as you arrive, you're transported into a fairytale setting, with pillars straight out of the temple of Karnak in Egypt, and a universe halfway between the Flintstone Family, Star Wars and Bilbo the Hobbit. Children will love it! We love the huge, superb 1,600 m² lagoon pool and the choice of top-quality restaurants. For children, the mini-club is top-notch! An ultra-complete club with a unique decor, bordered by a beautiful beach.

The establishment offers plenty of activities other than thalassotherapy, even though it is not an "entertainment" hotel: 182 m² mini-club, poolside activities (aerobics, water polo), beach volleyball, fitness room, billiards, table football, table tennis, pétanque, archery, trampoline, mini-theatre, etc. The beach at the Radisson Blu Palace & Thalasso is at the start of the Sidi Mahrez tourist area. Beyond the kitesurfing school, there are few buildings on the seafront and the coastline stretches as far as the Ile aux Flamants Roses. At the edge of the dunes, the beach is divided into two sections: a quiet one for adults (near the kitesurfing school) and a livelier one for families with children. Each of these sections of beach has been designed to be both chic and functional: wicker screens, parasols in straw huts, white plastic deckchairs, mattresses and showers. Fine sand, turquoise water, we can't get enough!

The entertainment is light, but there are abdo-buttocks, yoga, aerobics, aquagym, step and stretching classes. In the evening, make do with the live music in the piano bar (saxophone, orchestra, etc.), and the white parties organised on the heavenly Sidi Mahrez beach: fine, soft white sand and turquoise water. The area in front of the Palm Beach Palace is one of the few to have preserved its superb natural sand dunes. You're sure to see horses and camels strolling along the beach. Of course, you can also relax at the inevitable Moorish café, where you can smoke shisha (for a fee) and drink mint tea (free) in a pleasant oriental setting.

Get ready for a 12-hectare (120,000 m²) playground, a real city with five swimming pools, five restaurants, ten bars, a spa and a host of sports and leisure facilities! TUI Magic Life has little to envy from Club Med. It offers its customers an all-inclusive package 24 hours a day and even free motorised water sports (banana boat and water skiing, twice a day)! Sports enthusiasts will have no excuses for letting off steam, with an ultra-modern, air-conditioned gym, six tennis courts (two quick and four clay), three beach volleyball courts, a grass football pitch, another on the beach, a basketball court, archery, petanque and table tennis. In the restaurants, quality and variety are the order of the day: verrines as starters, tender meats, fresh fruit salads, bread baked on site, Tunisian specialities, roast meat by the slice, numerous mixed salads, pastries, creams and ice creams. Last but not least, this establishment plays the ecology-environment card and offers waste sorting in the bins located throughout the resort, while its beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, an ecological label guaranteeing cleanliness. Beach parties are regularly organised on the beach.

Seabel Aladin

A superb mini-club, spa and typical Menzel are all on offer at this resort with excellent French-speaking entertainment.

Set in a 6-hectare flower-filled park away from the tourist area, in the Aghrir region, Seabel Aladin offers excellent facilities for a 3-star establishment. We recommend it to families with its superb children's club. Add to this the superb double swimming pool linked by a waterfall, the balneotherapy centre, the free Wi-Fi internet connection everywhere, including in the rooms, and the charm of the bungalows with their traditional Menzel feel, and you have all the ingredients for a successful holiday in Djerba.

The Seabel Aladin is set on the edge of a beach of fine, soft, clear sand that slopes gently down to the sea. This is the beach of Aghrir, where horses and dromedaries are prohibited, unlike the beach of Sidi Mehrez, where the majority of hotels are located. The Chez Max beach bar offers refreshments during the day and evening meals on reservation, giving you the chance to savour delicious Tunisian specialities with your feet in the water! Book your Tuesday for the Tunisian evening! Meet up under the large Berber tent next to the beach. For accommodation, we recommend the bungalows, grouped together in seven traditional Menzels (typical Djerba housing), topped with a dome or vault. Each Menzel, with its flower-decked white façade, bears the name of a Tunisian town: Carthage, Sidi Bou Saïd, Nefta, Sousse, Zarzis, Tozeur and Kairouan. You'll love the traditional decor: carpets, a typical Menzel niche with a sofa that doubles as a bed, mirrors, marble, ceramics... Charming buildings, all set in lush green surroundings, like this pleasant green tunnel.
