Mountain Karting

For a change from mountain biking or hiking, there's a new activity to try out in Les Arcs during the summer season: Mountain Karting. It's a completely unusual sport that's full of thrills, depending on the route you take, but it can also be a very relaxing activity for families with children over the age of 12 and over 1m40 in height. You'll love going downhill in a mountain kart, taking tight turns and skidding on stony ground. Unlike a normal go-kart, there's no engine, so you can enjoy a completely eco-friendly sport in the great outdoors.

And if you're on holiday in Les Arcs at the end of August, you should know that the resort has been hosting the Mountain Kart World Championships since 2019, so you'll have the chance to cheer on the greatest racers on a highly technical course of 1,300 metres and 250 metres of vertical drop, and even take part if you're not too shy.

What is Mountain Kart?

An outdoor activity, the Mountain Kart is an all-terrain machine with three wheels (two big ones at the back and a smaller one at the front), handlebars, two independent brakes (which makes driving quite technical), two places to put your feet and no engine like you might find on a normal go-kart. There are no pedals either, as Mountain Karting is for downhill use only.

Who should try Mountain Karting?

This new downhill sport is open to all adults and children over the age of 12 who are over 1m40 tall.

You need to be in good physical condition.

You must accept the safety conditions, i.e. wear a full-face helmet throughout the activity.

The competition is open to everyone aged 18 and over.

The aim is to descend a 1300m course with a 250m vertical drop as quickly as possible. You'll be facing Mont Blanc, but you'll have to concentrate on the race to try and be the first.

You can register on the day with 3 HERO COOL credits.

You'll be able to make two first runs: one for scouting and one for the qualifying timer. And if you qualify, you'll have access to the final and possibly become world champion of Mountain Kart.
