Visit the Igloo Village

Whether during the day, for a frosty aperitif, dinner or just for the night, the Village Igloo is a real must-see in Les Arcs, and something the whole family can enjoy. An activity to be enjoyed in winter and even into early spring. Slip into the shoes of an Inuit for a few hours during your snow holiday and immerse yourself in the Village Igloo, which promises a warm welcome even if the temperature remains rather low. Children will love the ice grotto and its sculptures created by talented artists. Parents can enjoy a drink in the Ice Bar (mulled wine permitted) and even dance on the dance floor. And for an even more unusual overnight experience, book your room in the Igloo Village. Everything will be freezing except your duvet, which is of course designed to keep you warm even in sub-zero temperatures.

Located at the foot of the Arcabulle chairlift and perched at an altitude of over 2,000 metres above Les Arcs, the Igloo Village is accessible by ski or on foot (via a short footpath). It offers a unique experience in a 400m2 igloo.

From the outside, the Village Igloo is a rather modest dome made of snow, with deckchairs, tables, pallet chairs and a low door labelled "Bar". It's only when you cross the threshold that you realise the complexity of this natural, man-made structure. Not only does it have a bar, it also features two large dining rooms and a maze concealing sculptures created by artists. This art gallery also conceals two bedrooms.

During the day, the igloo has a cosy, cool atmosphere. Skiers stop off for a drink and a rest. As soon as night falls, the igloo transforms itself into a hotel, offering guests a mountain dinner (Savoyard fondue accompanied by charcuterie). The three bedrooms are quite comfortable, carved out of snow and ice. They have mattresses, lighting and, above all, duvets specially designed to cope with the extreme cold.

A break at the frozen bar

Prices are quite reasonable: the white mulled wine is a real treat at €3.80, a delicious alternative to its red counterpart. There is a good selection of wines, champagnes and spirits in addition to the usual soft and hot drinks. Cocktails start from 7 euros and there are also a few international beers on offer. During happy hour (3pm to 5pm), prices are very attractive, with pints of lager for 5 euros or soft drinks for 2.50 euros.

An artistically sculpted ice grotto

An ice grotto covering more than 150m2 is adorned with a dozen ice sculptures, inviting visitors to embark on an icy journey. Every year, the Les Arcs Igloo Village changes its theme. One year, the theme was mythology. We travel back in time through the different sculptures representing gods and mythical characters such as Medusa, Zeus and Hercules. The whole thing is visually impressive and beautiful.
