Off-ski activities to do with children in Les Menuires

Les Menuires is a ski resort in the heart of the Three Valleys in Savoie. Although it is famous for its world-famous ski slopes, the resort offers much more than that. We've selected five activities that will delight young and old alike, whether they don't ski or want to do something else for a few hours. Discover the joys of dog sledding on the snowy slopes, explore the mountains on board a snow groomer, hurtle down the slopes on the Roc'n'Bob sledge, experience the thrills of rail sledging and take advantage of the Fun Park for an indoor day out on a bad weather day. Les Menuires has something for every type of holidaymaker, even those who don't ski!

Dog sled rides

Dog sledding is an activity that children particularly enjoy. It's not just a sled ride, it's a unique experience that allows children to discover the world of sled dogs and connect with nature. The children will learn more about the Huskys' way of life, and may even get to feed and stroke them before setting off on the ride. Once on the sled, they can let themselves be guided by the dogs while enjoying the magnificent view of the mountains.

A sleigh ride with Animal Nature

You can take your place in one of the two sledges designed for two adults and two children (up to a maximum of 180kg), pulled by 6 to 8 dogs for a 20 to 25 minute ride between Les Menuires and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville. You'll have the chance to take some great photos. You'll then share 30 to 40 minutes of cuddles with the dogs.

Snow groomer ride

If you're looking for a unique experience, this is the activity for you.

On a groomer ride, you'll have the chance to discover the ski slopes in a different way. You'll climb aboard one of these imposing machines, which will take you to the heights of the resort. You'll be able to admire breathtaking, starlit scenery from the comfort of the groomer cabin.

The groomer driver will show you places that are otherwise inaccessible, explain how the machine works and answer any questions you may have. It's a friendly, informative experience that will give you and your family a magical time together.

But snow groomers are not just used for walking. They are also essential for the work of the piste patrollers and the preparation of the ski runs. That's why it's interesting to note that the first snow groomers were put into service in the 1940s. Before that, the slopes were prepared using tractors and horses. As technology evolved, snow groomers became large, sophisticated machines with powerful engines and advanced control systems.

For families with children aged 6 and over, there are two possible experiences:

Sunny Nights with a groomer ride and a meal in a restaurant at an altitude of 2,500 metres.
