The Gébroulaz glacier

The Gébroulaz glacier is located in the French Alps, in the Aiguilles Rouges massif in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley, near the Méribel ski resort. It is considered one of the most beautiful and accessible glaciers in the Alps, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks such as Mont Blanc, Les Drus and Les Aiguilles Rouges. It is one of the largest ski glaciers in France, with a surface area of over 400 hectares and snow-covered slopes stretching for over 2 kilometres at an altitude of 3,511 metres. You can enjoy a range of activities on the glacier, including glacier hiking and ski touring. It is important to note, however, that these activities require specialised equipment and guides, and that it is important to take into account the weather conditions and avalanche risks before setting off.

In summer, hike up to the glacier

This hike is considered to be very difficult and takes around 4? hours to complete.

You leave Pralognan-la-Vanoise from the Pont de Pêche car park. You will first head towards the Péclet-Polset refuge and walk for 2? hours. After a short break to refill your water bottle, you can reach the Lac Blanc, just 10 minutes away, and then join the path that takes you to the foot of the glacier. Be careful, the ground is very slippery and some sections are tricky.

Return along the same path.

If you're lucky, you may spot a few marmots.
