A day in the sun in Saint-Tropez

🌅 After waking up to the sound of cicadas, head to the quays of the port of Saint-Tropez, which are just waking up. Take a seat on the terrace of the Bar du Port (open from 7am), the ideal time to make the most of the beautiful terrace. What's more, you'll be able to watch the bustle as it builds up...

Next, explore the narrow streets of the old town. Most of the town's commercial activity is to be found behind the port, on the way to the famous Place des Lices. Some of the most famous international names can be found within a few hundred metres of each other. You're sure to find what you're looking for! When you arrive at the Place des Lices, enjoy a game of pétanque!

For lunch, head for the legendary Pampelonne beach. This sunny spot is a meeting place for the jet-set and wealthy families.

Among the many restaurants where you can have lunch and possibly book a beach mattress, you can choose between Le Jardin Tropezina and Moorea Plage. Enjoy the sun and the pleasure of swimming in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea!

A summer's end in Saint-Tropez

After your afternoon spent under the blazing Mediterranean sun, return to the port of Saint-Tropez.

🍷 Relax on the legendary terrace of Café Sénéquier (open every day in summer from 7.30am to 3am).

This staple of the port became famous in the 1960s. Back then, it became a meeting place for artists from the Nouvelle Vague.

🍴 For your dinner, consider booking one of the many restaurants in the old town.

In fact, it's very pleasant to dine on a small terrace in the heart of the narrow streets of old Saint-Tropez!

July and August are very crowded, so make sure you book ahead for your evening meal!

Best time to go to Saint-Tropez?

Visitor numbers peak in summer, from late June to early September, which is also the best time to take advantage of the lively resort. All the establishments are open at this time (bars, hotels, restaurants, clubs). As a bonus, at this time of year the seawater temperature is at its optimum. To combine good weather and a calmer atmosphere, opt for May and September.

🚌 How do I get to Saint-Tropez?

Saint-Tropez is almost 900 kilometres from Paris, with a 115-kilometre drive to Nice (around 1 hour 30 minutes).

If you choose to travel by train, the small town has no SNCFstation... The easiest way if you want to arrive by train is to get off at the Hyères guard station, around fifty kilometres west of Saint-Tropez. In summer, direct TGV trains link Hyères to Paris.

By plane, this part of the Var is easily connected to the capital by air, thanks to Nice international airport.

🚗 Where can I park in Saint-Tropez?

There are plenty of pay-and-display car parks in the centre of Saint-Tropez, but don't forget to pay your parking meter if you park along the streets in the centre. When it comes to parking in the seaside areas, the summer crowds mean that it's not easy to find a free space! Come early if you want to spend the day at the beach, but your parking space is bound to be expensive!
