Two days on the Corniche des Maures

An "enchanted interlude" on a coastline that is all too often concreted over, the Corniche des Maures is a miraculous stretch of road!

If you love nature, wild beaches and charming little villages, this corner of the Var is for you!

What's more, you'll find that you can discover this paradise at the leisurely pace of a hike, or at the more brisk pace of a bike ride.

We'll start our discovery tour from the town of Hyères les Palmiers. The route will alternate between vineyards, forests, villages and the seaside...

Our Var route ends at the entrance to the Saint-Tropez peninsula, in the village of La Croix-Valmer.

Day 1: Hyères to Cavalière along the coastline

🍇 If you follow the departmental road towards the centre of the village of La Londe, you will pass many vineyards.

🏰 Among the various estates, you can visit Château des Anglades or Château de Mauvanne (tasting and shopping available).

From La Londe-les-Maures, head for the pointe de Brégançon along the D 42 A road.

This enchanting spot on the Var coast boasts several white sandy beaches. Access to these dreamy bays is subject to a fee. The beaches are

  • Pellegrin
  • L'Estagnol
  • Cabasson

Finally, the Brégançon fort closes the point.

The road then leads to Bormes-les-Mimosas. Head for the old village!

Here, you'll have the impression of being in the heart of a real picture-postcard village. With its narrow streets, squares and old houses, you'll feel right at home!

Do you love plants and flowers? Then this stopover is for you too!

🌷 Bormes-les-Mimosas is one of France's most flower-filled villages! If you're here between January and March, you'll also be able to enjoy the mimosa blossom!

🌊 At the end of the day, drive through the seaside resort of Le Lavandou, famous for its beautiful sandy beaches. You'll arrive in Cavalière in the evening to spend the night.

Day 2: Cavalière to La Croix Valmer at the foot of the Maures massif

After a hearty breakfast in Cavalière, set off for the village of Le Rayol-Canadel.

🏖️ Here you will find several superb beaches and a magnificent garden, the Domaine du Rayol.

The themed tour of the garden follows a number of different paths. You'll be amazed by the vegetation, which alternates between exotic plants (palms, flowers) and cacti from more arid regions.

🍴 Take a lunch break at a restaurant in Cavalaire-sur-Mer. The promenade along the Mediterranean Sea boasts a number of pleasant addresses.

Le Dauphin Plage and La Petite Crêperie are just some of the places where you can have a great time!

Before reaching your final stopover, the little village of La Croix-Valmer, make a diversion to the beautiful Gigaro beach.

🚵‍ Finally, if you get the urge to retrace our entire route in the opposite direction, there's a cycle path along the way!

In fact, the coastal cycle path runs alongside this stretch of countryside. The path follows the old railway line. You'll pass under tunnels and bridges once used by the local train!

The track runs between Cavalaire and Hyères, although some sections are not yet finished!
