Nungwi beach

Located at the northern tip of the island, it is one of the most beautiful beaches on Zanzibar. But it is also inevitably one of the most popular with tourists. The atmosphere here is festive, with a number of bars and restaurants offering local dance performances. The place is also renowned for its sumptuous sunsets, which bring crowds together every evening to admire the spectacle.

Despite its popularity, this magnificent stretch of sand is still splendid. Importantly, you can swim at any time of day on Nungwi. In fact, the north of the island is spared the phenomenon of Zanzibar's high tides, which can make swimming impossible at low tide.

From Nungwi, you can embark on a mini-cruise at sunset. You can admire the spectacle at sea, while listening to traditional songs accompanied by drums. A change of scenery guaranteed.

Jambiani Beach

Although spared by the big tourist resorts, Jambiani's reputation is well established. It is a mecca for Zanzibar tourism. But it's a great place to live, and this small fishing village has managed to retain its authentic, peaceful soul. The village is nestled in an immense expanse of white sand. People stop here for the tranquillity and for the kitesurfing.

Paje beach

Situated not far from Jambiani, the small village of Paje offers a warm and peaceful atmosphere. It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of the north of the island, and you can't help but be seduced by the idyllic setting of Paje beach. Fine sand, coconut palms and turquoise waters combine to provide the perfect change of scenery. Situated to the east of the main island of Zanzibar, there is a high low tide here. So you can't swim here at any time of day.

It is, however, the ideal place to indulge in water sports such as kitesurfing. It is reputed to be the ideal spot for kitesurfing. And when swimming isn't possible, it's time to watch the seaweed gatherers. And why not take your turn at shell hunting before returning to your lodge for a cocktail? All while admiring the shades of blue and pink dancing in the sky at sunset. And don't forget that Paje is the perfect place to indulge in a beach hotel at an affordable price.

You can enjoy the luxury of sleeping in small bungalows right on the sand, facing the Indian Ocean. All for an unbeatable price. It's a far cry from the glitz and glamour of the big hotels along the island's north coast, but Paje offers a more authentic experience."

However, there is one emblematic place overlooking this beach. The rock bar restaurant is perched on a rock. It can be reached by boat at high tide and on foot at low tide.

Michamwi Beach

It's only on this white sandy beach in the east of the archipelago that you can watch a magnificent sunset falling into the sea. The beach here is small, but people come here mainly for the peace and quiet. A few years ago, the place was virtually deserted. Take advantage of the fact that it's not yet booming and come here to relax.

Michamvi Sunset Bay is one of the only beachfront establishments. It's the ideal place to set down your bags and recharge your batteries away from the crowds.
