Discover the small village of Jambiani

Jambiani was originally a small fishing village, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the big luxury resorts. You'll stay in small, cosy bungalows on the seafront at very reasonable prices. This practice, which began in 1989, is helping to emancipate women on the island. A visit to the cooperative gives you an insight into the daily lives of these courageous women, as well as the process of seaweed farming and the production of beauty products with a thousand virtues. It's also an opportunity to do some beauty shopping, guaranteed 100% local.

The crystal-clear sea and the immaculate beach are, of course, good reasons to stop off here. In fact, it's the ideal place for water sports enthusiasts. The sea is calm, shallow and there are few tourists, making it a perfect playground for kitesurfing and windsurfing. And underwater, the beauty of the area is no less impressive. All you have to do is swim a few fathoms, a little way from the coast, and you'll be able to see magnificent seabeds through your mask. And if you fancy exploring the ocean a little deeper, there's no shortage of diving clubs. You'll discover an incredible diversity of coral and fish.

For those more down-to-earth, it's easy to hire a bike to explore the island, and there are also bikes with big wheels specially designed for riding on the beach.
