Ponta da Piedade in the Algarve, Portugal

During a trip to the Algarve, in the south of Portugal, a visit to the Ponta da Piedade site is a must. The beauty of the site will leave you speechless - trust us! Immense sheer cliffs of orange hues plunge straight into the azure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A truly magnificent sight! Whether you're on land or in the sea aboard a boat, you'll be amazed. Don't hesitate to try out these 2 experiences, which complement each other and allow you to appreciate the place in its entirety.

You can also put your towel down on the many beaches scattered (and sometimes hidden) between the cliffs. The best-known (and most Instagrammable) of these is undoubtedly the Praia do Camilo, accessible via its imposing wooden staircase. The place is quickly overcrowded, but at the start of the day, you can enjoy the peace and quiet (or even watch a superb sunrise if you get up early! For the brave among you!)

The magnificent tourist resort of Ponta da Piedade lies just 3 km south of the town of Lagos. It attracts crowds for its superb scenery: beautiful, towering cliffs in ochre tones that contrast dramatically with the turquoise blue of the ocean. This is surely one of the Algarve's most beautiful spots, and a must-see during your stay in Portugal.

Coming from Lagos, the section on the left is the most impressive. Numerous small paths allow you to observe the landscape in greater depth. There are also steps that take you closer to the water, allowing you to glimpse hidden caves and change your point of view. Then there's the part to the right, which is quieter and less crowded with visitors. But it would be a shame not to take a walk there. What's more, this section is equipped with wooden pontoons (perfect if you have difficulty getting around or if you have a pushchair).

Some will opt for a visit by sea, and rightly so! Ponta da Piedade is even more impressive from below. You can explore the caves and secret caverns on board typical small boats. For the more adventurous, you can hire a kayak or paddle to give you more freedom to explore. To enjoy one of these experiences, head to the port of Lagos to choose the excursion that suits you best!
