Looking for an unusual weekend away? Try this floating accommodation on the Loire!

How can you visit the Loire Valley in an original way? By staying in a gîte on the river, of course. The region's natural beauty lends itself perfectly to a romantic stay on the water. We'd like to introduce you to this boat, a real floating cocoon for exploring the islands of the Loire: a toue cabanée.

A relaxing cruise on France's longest river

In the Loire, an original floating gîte is available to book. This mobile home lets you spend a holiday on the water, with the château of Saumur as your backdrop.

The boat in question is a "toue cabanée" (a type of fishing boat shaped like a "ferry"), named "Le Vent d'Travers" in homage to the famous Loire sailor Jacques Robin.

Floating on the river, this wood and slate rental has all the comforts you need for an unforgettable stay with friends or family. With a space of 27 square metres, it can accommodate more than 8 people for one- or two-hour outings and 2 to 3 people for longer stays.

"This hut used to be a cabin where fishermen stored their gear. We've transformed it into a cosy little nest", explains Corinne Giessinger, owner of the "toue cabanée".

A sailor on board to take you wherever you want to go

Along the way, you'll be captivated by the beauty and enchanting calm of the surroundings. What's more, if you wish, a sailor is available on request. He'll take you for a ride to discover the landscapes of the Pays de la Loire and its islands. It's also possible to hire the cabana for aperitif or gastronomic cruises (for groups of 10 or more).
