The rich biodiversity of Loro Parque, Tenerife's modern zoo

Loro Parque is a zoo created in 1972 and a foundation for the conservation of parrots. The team at this "modern zoo" respects the concept of the 5 freedoms for animals and works to protect and conserve endangered species. The scientific aspect of the park makes it a place where animals are studied and where the staff take great care of them. The park is home to tigers, orcas, crocodiles and sharks. Less frightening and more endearing are the penguins, parrots, dolphins and lemurs. Every day, shows are organised for visitors. Just a few metres above the water, you can watch orcas leaping into the air, dolphins doing pirouettes or sea lions tossing a ball around. In the north of the island of Tenerife, this zoo welcomes young and old all year round!
