Discover Ingenium Ottawa, 3 modern and complementary museums for young and old alike

Modern, interactive and fun, the three museums complement each other. Staging, exhibitions, games and simulations are all on the menu for you and your children. The Aviation and Space Museum focuses on Canadian protagonists in the world of aviation and aerospace technologies. It features exhibitions, aircraft models and real planes. The Agriculture and Food Museum is a large explanatory farm that highlights the characteristics, needs and living conditions of the animals we call dairy and meat cattle. Lastly, the Science and Innovation Museum is an innovative museum that brings together all of Canada's inventiveness. The permanent exhibitions include rooms dedicated to home technology, the science behind steam and an innovation zone for children, the ZOOOM.

The Ingenium network, 3 inspiring museums

The Ingenium network is a government initiative. Three of Ottawa's major museums have come together to share their knowledge and programmes. The Agriculture and Food, Aviation and Space, and Science and Technology museums preserve the traditions and learning of the past, while bringing together the needs and technology of the future. The Canadian network pays tribute to the individuals, people and communities who have changed the history of humanity forever.

The Museum of Agriculture and Food, to understand what goes on our plates

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum puts the spotlight on the protagonists of agriculture, the animals. Here you'll find all the animals that play a part, in one way or another, in the Canadian diet. You'll see what a livestock farm looks like, but also what the animals eat and where your food comes from. It's an experience that's just as interesting for children as it is for adults, and an extremely touching one at that.

On site, you'll come across a variety of dairy and beef cattle: cows, sheep, ewes and pigs. There are horses in the stables, and not far away, the henhouse is full of poultry in all shapes and sizes. There are even bees in the hives set back at the end of the grounds. It's a museum that teaches you more about the living conditions of livestock and how what ends up on your plate is prepared. It's also an interesting way of teaching children about our close relationship with nature.

Unique activities all year round

Each year, events such as the Sheep Shearing Festival and Easter on the Farm are organised, and in partnership with Ottawa schools, school programmes are run throughout the year, as well as summer day camps during the holidays. You can also visit the museum and book a guided tour on site.

Museum of Science and Technology: discover the world of tomorrow

Since 1967, the Museum of Science and Technology has been telling the Canadian side of the innovation story in an immersive, educational and, above all, fun way. In 2017, the museum was refurbished. Today, it covers 7,400 m². It is made up of a variety of attractions, each funnier than the last: the bizarre kitchen, for example, or the ZOOOM, an innovation zone for children.
