Coco Bongo, THE night out in Punta Cana

It all began in 1997 in Cancún, the major seaside resort on the Riviera Maya in Mexico's Yucatán region. Following the success of the film The Mask, starring Jim Carrey, a nightclub was created bearing the same name as the film: Coco Bongo! Following its success, a second Coco Bongo opened in Playa del Carmen (still on the Riviera Maya) in 2009, then in the Dominican Republic in 2014, in Punta Cana.

Located in Bavaro, in the south of the Punta Cana area, not too far from the airport, Coco Bongo is the must-see night out of any stay in Punta Cana, the flagship evening excursion offered by all the resorts in the area. This giant nightclub is also an ultra-modern showroom featuring the latest technology.

The crowd begins to gather at 10.30pm, at the foot of a giant Spiderman that can be seen in the distance from the motorway! There's already a great atmosphere inside, but the real show starts at 11pm and doesn't finish until 3am. Of course, you're free to leave whenever you like, and there are regular shuttle buses to take customers back to their hotels, or taxis, which aren't too expensive.

At regular intervals, Beetlejuice, The Mask and other characters make their way through the crowd, who dance to the sounds of The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Michael Jackson and other well-known standards.

VIP ticket holders get a reserved table and the bar is open until 3am, just like the all-inclusive clubs that are the rule in Punta Cana!

There's a Queen concert with Freddie Mercury 'in person' performing Bohemian Rhapsody, an angel with diamonds flying through the air to the tune of The Beatles' Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, acrobats, flying fairies and other acts, not forgetting scenes from films such as 300 and Mad Max Fury Road, with the flying guitarist playing his fire-breathing guitar!

There's a regular shower of confetti and coloured balloons, soap bubbles, streamers and fog sprays - in short, it's the real American show, except that it's Las Vegas that's getting a bit old! This spectacular sound and light show with giant screens and gogo dancers will keep you entertained until the end of the night!

Very popular with French guests, who find quality French-speaking entertainment, the Catalonia Punta Cana offers a wide range of services and activities in a pleasant, vast tropical garden. Ideally located on the beautiful beach of Cabeza de Toro, close to the airport (10 km) and Coco Bongo (15 minutes), this resort boasts seven restaurants and an immense swimming pool, a vast lagoon of 2,000 m² well laid out. For golfers, there is an 18-hole course on site.

👛 How much does it cost?

Between 60 and 85 dollars, depending on the season, and weekends are more expensive than weekdays. If you take a Gold Membre ticket, it's more like between 100 and 150 dollars, but you are better placed (in height) and benefit from premium drinks. Bear in mind that a drink is always included in the price.

🚌 How do I get there (and back)?

A shuttle system, paid for at the time of booking, takes you back to your hotel.
