Dive into the Cavayère lake together

The Cavayère lake is of course a lake, but it's much more than that. It's a leisure complex where you'll find beaches and activities, shaded picnic areas and a restaurant. On land, you can enjoy tree climbing, volleyball, pétanque or mini-golf, and of course walking all around the lake. The forest acrobatic park offers 7 courses of varying difficulty for children aged 4 and over (Bambi course), the first four of which are designed for children and require adult supervision on the ground.

If you prefer water-based activities, you can opt for pedalos, paddles, water-skiing or wake-boarding, the short, wide board that lets you excel at tricks.

In summer, the parc Aquaviva takes over the premises and installs a course of floating structures and various slides on the lake, including water-jumps (giant slides) and giant trampolines. Your children will love it.

The lake, a haven of freshness

Everywhere in the south, people are looking for coolness. When you're on holiday in Carcassonne, once you've left the shady fortress or the restaurants in the lower town, you'll be only too happy to head to the Cavayère lake, a 5-minute drive from the Porte Narbonnaise - or 20 minutes by bike - to take a dip, soak up its coolness after a visit to the medieval town in the blazing sun, relax on one of its beaches or picnic areas, or play sport and have fun.

Although the lake has 2 sandy beaches and 1 gravel beach, which are supervised in summer, the main reason people come to the lake is for its water activities. The lake is equipped with a water ski lift, a device that allows you to water ski, towed by a rope pulled by a machine (not a speedboat). The programme includes wakeboarding, monoskiing, kneeboarding, wakeskating and, of course, water skiing.

For the more leisurely types, there's the paddle, a surfboard that you glide across the water, standing upright, using a paddle. It's a great way to enjoy the fresh air and nature all around the lake. Great for couples.

All you need to do is get in touch with Les Flotteurs de la Cavayère, who can also hire you one or more pedalos, or surfbikes, those strange vehicles that are a cross between a surfboard and a bicycle. Fun and refreshing.

Aquaviva Park

The Aquaviva Park is a different story. It's a course full of pitfalls that floats on the surface of the lake, covering 3,000 m2 that you'll have to tackle head-on.

This world of rubber is a succession of colourful modules rising to 4 metres high, slides, obstacles in the shape of geometric figures, trampolines, sliding mats and climbing walls, culminating in a huge water-jump, the largest in the world (300 m2!) offering 10 sliding tracks that will propel you into the water. Don't let your hair down!

For those in search of a rest after their adventure, the attraction has a restaurant, bar, sun loungers and hammocks. Pizzas, paninis, tacos and bruschettas await you, as well as ice creams, biscuits and cold drinks. Pets are welcome too.

The O2 Aventure course

This park in the forest, on the edge of the lake, offers suspended courses for young and old, of the forest adventure course (PAF) type. The first 4 courses are designed for children (Bambi, Ouistiti, Ecureuil and Vert), the other 3 for older children, totalling 100 workshops. You can expect monkey bridges, net bridges, tug-of-war bridges, Nepalese bridges, tyros, Tarzan jumps, rope bridges, balance beams and swing bridges, depending on your level.

Participants are secured by a harness along the entire route.

Beware, the difficulty climbs quickly and the name of high acrobatics course (PAH) takes on its full meaning. The proof is in the pudding with its 4 zip-lines suspended partly above the water for a guaranteed thrill of speed, or the more daring can venture into a head-down aerobatic adventure to mix up the fun!

Great zip-line over the lake!
