Carnac is fortunate to have 5 beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean.
Carnac's coastline stretches between Anse de Pô (an oyster farming area) and Anse de Beaumer, to the east of the town.
In summer, the beaches of Saint-Colomban and the Grande Plage de Carnac are protected and supervised by lifeguards.
As for folklore and practicality, you'll notice the colourful cabins installed on certain bays.
The main attraction of the Carnac coastline is the clear waters and fine sand. What's more, to complete the picture, the beaches slope gently down towards the ocean, a dream for families.
👉From east to west, the beaches include:
Plage de Beaumer: the most easterly beach in the commune after Pointe Churchill this bay is a good spot for fishing on foot!
Grande Plage: the most central beach, located at Carnac Plage. Two kilometres long, it is ideal for family bathing (calm water). Special facilities for people with reduced mobility are planned for this beach in summer (tiralo, access ramp).
Plage de Légenèse: this beautiful crescent of sand lies to the west of the Yacht Club and the Grande Plage. In summer, there is a children's beach club on Plage de Légenèse.
Plage de Ty Bihan: between Plage de Légenèse and Pointe de Saint-Colomban, Plage de Ty Bihan is the smallest sandy bay to the west of Carnac. The view of Quiberon Bay from Ty Bihan beach is superb.
Plage de Saint-Colomban: this is Carnac's best spot for windsurfers.
In summer, try to get here early, as the beach is at its busiest in July and August.
