Water sports around Erquy

If you want to improve your skills or simply learn the basics of kitesurfing, head for Kite Center 22. Located in the port of Erquy, this centre offers lessons led by qualified and experienced instructors.

As well as kitesurfing, you can try your hand at wing foil or kite-foil!

Make sure you book your sessions well, especially during July and August!

Managed by the Sloop d'Erquy association at the Maison de la Mer, the old rig Sainte Jeanne sets sail every day in summer from the harbour. Treat yourself to a real traditional sailing trip!

Visit to the Maison de la Mer in Erquy

🌊 The Maison de la Mer, a remarkable municipal structure, is home to a range of service providers all linked to the sea and nautical activities.

These include

  • The Erquy Nautical Centre: water sports activities, including sailing, sand yachting and kayaking, as well as organising water sports events.

  • The Club de voile de la baie d'Erquy: the aim of the association is to organise sailing events and promote this water sports activity. It also contributes to the development of sailing throughout the region.

  • Histoire d'Eau: this is the Maison de la Mer diving centre. You can choose between scuba diving, snorkelling or underwater trekking. The seabed around Erquy is superb. The best spots are around Cap d'Erquy. The underwater fauna is abundant. You'll see lobsters, congresses and the famous scallops!

  • Le Sloop d'Erquy: an association that manages the old rig Sainte Jeanne. Sail the English Channel aboard one of these fantastic boats and you'll have the time of your life!

And for thrill-seekers, Erquy is also a destination of choice!

In Erquy, you can also take part in more intense water sports such as flyboarding and hoverboarding. These will have you flying over the water thanks to a pressurised water jet.

A more dynamic way to enjoy the sunny days of a Breton summer. Finally, for groups of friends, jet skis and towed buoys are also available for hire.

When should you come and try out Erquy's water sports?

The seaside resort of Erquy welcomes visitors mainly from April to October.

In fact, the most pleasant period remains the summer with its beautiful sunny days. It's a lively time of year, and some beaches are supervised, which is essential if you want to make the most of your water sports!

But you can discover the town, its bay and its beaches all year round. In fact, the atmosphere differs greatly according to the season.

Winter in particular is truly rejuvenating. At this time of year, the fresh, iodine-laden sea air is particularly invigorating. A kitesurfing trip at this time of year is fantastic, but very cool!

A family weekend at sea at Cap d'Erquy is sure to be a memorable one!

Note, however, that many addresses are closed in the off-season!

🚌 How do you get to the seaside resort of Erquy to enjoy water sports?

🚈 The nearest SNCF train station to the seaside resort of Erquy is Saint-Brieuc. From Paris, several TGV trains run to Saint-Brieuc every day of the year.

🚘 By car Erquy is around 450 kilometres from Paris. Allow just over 4 hours' drive (4h20 to be exact) following the A 11 motorway, then the A 81 motorway, and finally the N 157, N 12 and D 34 roads.

✈️ Rennes Saint-Jacques airport is the nearest airport to Erquy. It is located around one hundred kilometres away.

🚗 Where can I park in the centre of the seaside resort of Erquy?

Several car parks are provided in the town centre. In summer, some spaces are chargeable and quickly taken over, so come early!
