Family activities in Erquy

Erquy, the perfect seaside resort for families

The commune of Erquy offers a host of family-friendly events and activities. During the summer season, the local authority sets up the Cap Armor information centre not far from the port.

You'll find a wide range of sporting and cultural activities at affordable prices.

These activities are supervised by state-qualified professionals, and are available on a session-by-session basis. What's more, you can book your sessions directly.

Among the many sporting activities available in Erquy, visit the Storm Surfing approved surf school. The school teaches young and old how to surf and stand-up paddle.

From the age of 5 upwards, the school offers beginners', advanced and private lessons.

The school is open from March to November.

A family day out in Erquy

🥾 In the morning, take a walk around the port of Erquy. The pride of the commune, the fishing port is one of the busiest in the Brittany region!

It's great fun to stroll along the quays and admire the fishing boats.

You can also take a pleasant walk towards the Lacs Bleus. These former quarries are now home to small reservoirs.

🍴 For a pleasant family meal, sit down on the terrace of the crêperie restaurant Le Chalut.

The menu offers delicious galettes and crêpes. A real feast that's sure to please children and adults alike!

🏖️ After lunch, opt for a safe, supervised swim on a family-friendly beach, and head for Caroual beach.

This large cove of fine sand is perfect for swimming and playing in the sand.

More than 2 kilometres long, the beach is bustling with activity during the summer season.

You can try your hand at a volleyball or sandball competition.

There's also a lively play area, a real paradise for children.

👉 On the practical side, the beach has sanitary facilities with showers and public toilets.

Where to stay near the port of Erquy?

When should you visit the family-friendly seaside resort of Erquy?

The seaside resort of Erquy welcomes visitors mainly from April to October.

In fact, the most pleasant period remains the summer with its beautiful sunny days. There's plenty of entertainment and some beaches are supervised, which is essential for family bathing!

But you can discover the town and its surroundings all year round. In fact, the atmosphere differs greatly according to the season.

Winter in particular is truly rejuvenating. At this time of year, the fresh sea air, laden with iodine, is particularly invigorating.

Cap d'Erquy is the perfect destination for a family weekend and a hike.

Note, however, that many addresses are closed in the off-season!

🚌 How do I get to the seaside resort of Erquy?

🚈 The nearest SNCF train station to the seaside resort of Erquy is Saint-Brieuc. From Paris, several TGV trains run to Saint-Brieuc every day of the year.

🚘 By car Erquy is around 450 kilometres from Paris. Allow just over 4 hours' drive (4h20 to be exact) following the A 11 motorway, then the A 81 motorway, and finally the N 157, N 12 and D 34 roads.

🚗 Where can I park in the centre of the family-friendly seaside resort of Erquy?

Several car parks are provided in the town centre. In summer some spaces are chargeable come early!
