The Bay of Saint-Brieuc is a sensitive natural area, part of which has been protected for 25 years.
The amplitude of the tides is remarkable. At low tide, the English Channel retreats more than 7 kilometres from the coast!
Nearly 1,200 hectares of the Saint-Brieuc nature reserve are listed and protected. It comprises the coves of Yffiniac and Morieux.
Quite simply, this makes it the largest nature reserve in the Brittany region!
The reserve is mainly made up of a vast foreshore and salt meadows that are partly covered by the sea at high tide.
In addition to the maritime part, there is a terrestrial sector made up of dunes near Hillion (eastern part of the nature reserve).
