The banks of the Garonne - Right bank

On the Right Bank, between the Pont Saint-Pierre and the Pont-Neuf, the stroll along the Garonne is a particularly pleasant way to enjoy Toulouse's gentle way of life. On this side, you'll enjoy one of Toulouse's most emblematic views: that of the famous dome of Saint-Joseph de la Grave on the opposite bank.

You can start your stroll in the Place de la Daurade, on the banks of the Garonne. This charming square is home to some of the last timber-framed houses in Toulouse, so don't hesitate to sit out on a terrace and enjoy the view. On the way back to the quays, you can also visit the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Daurade. Dating back to the 5th century, the interior of the basilica is well worth a visit!

Towards the Pont Saint-Pierre, head for the lock of the same name. Here, the Garonne joins the Canal de Brienne, itself linked to the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The scenery is made up of bridges, locks and barges, and the shady path is perfect for a cool break.

The banks of the Garonne - Left bank

The Left Bank of the Garonne is not to be outdone either! Cross the Pont-Neuf and head for the Prairie des Filtres, to the left of the bridge. This site has become a very popular public garden for Toulousans, a relaxing green space from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Quai de Tounis and the Pont-Neuf. A place to stroll and relax, it also hosts major events such as the Rio Loco festival.

At the end of the Pont-Neuf, the brick tower of the Ch芒teau d'eau rises above the Prairie des Filtres. This former water tower was given a new lease of life in 1974 when it was entrusted to Toulouse photographer Jean Dieuzaide, who turned it into a public gallery of photographic art. It's a lovely visit that will delight photography fans.

Walk past the H么tel Dieu, this imposing building overlooking the Garonne, to the Quai Viguerie, which is very lively in summer. And why not climb to the top of the Ferris Wheel? The view of the Garonne, its brick banks, the rooftops of the city centre and its historic monuments is just breathtaking!

Finally, it's impossible to stroll along the Left Bank without passing by its landmark: the Chapelle Saint-Joseph de la Grave and its dome. Did you know that this monument steeped in history is the most photographed building in the Pink City? The chapel will soon be converted into a cultural venue, and a pedestrian walkway will lead through the former hospital.
