Enjoy the beautiful Malvarrosa beach in Valencia

How can you pass through Valencia without taking advantage of its superb beaches? It would be a real sin! The best known of all is probably Malvarrosa beach. This marshy area was transformed into a hollyhock plantation in the 19th century, before becoming a superb beach in the 20th. Its width, fine golden sand and easy access from all over the city have made it extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. You can of course cool off and sunbathe, but that's not all! The beach offers a wide range of water sports activities, as well as restaurants and bistros to tempt your taste buds. Not to spoil your fun, the sunset on Valenciennes beaches is said to be a shade of mauve... Come and see for yourself!

Or opt for a trip on a banana boat. The concept? You get on an inflatable banana, then get pulled along by a boat that takes you at full speed over the waves until you inevitably fall into the water. Adrenalin guaranteed!

For those who want to have a more leisurely but experienced time, we advise you to opt for a 1h30 paddle initiation offered by Ocean Republik, on Saturdays and Sundays, at 10am or 12pm.

Sunbathing in complete tranquillity

If you're more the 'lazy' type when you go to the beach, you can head to the premises of the company Mar y Sombra, which is present on many of Valencia's beaches. The company hires out deckchairs, parasols and even hammocks! Mar y sombra has also thought of food lovers, offering snacks, ice creams and drinks. And last but not least, the company has hired expert masseurs. So let yourself be tempted by the Spanish dolce vita, combining cocktails, sunshine and massage! Good deal: from Monday to Friday, if you buy a massage, you'll get free hammock hire.

Eating paella in front of the sunset

What could be more idyllic than a sunset on the beach? Enjoy this magical moment, when the sky turns from blue to violet, mauve, pink... and sometimes even red.

The best thing to do is to sit down in one of the many beach bars along the seafront and enjoy the view. You might as well combine the beauty of the Valencian landscape with its gastronomy, by savouring a delicious paella, a true emblem of the city. To do this, we recommend stopping off at the Casa Isabel restaurant, which used to be a simple beachside refreshment bar. True to its origins, the restaurant still serves typical Valencian paellas, as they were cooked in the old days.

Tanning without the tourists

Located to the east of the Malvarrosa, Levante beach is quieter and less crowded than its neighbour. It is around 1.2 km long, with fine sand and crystal-clear waters. It has first-aid posts, showers, toilets and children's play areas, as well as bars and restaurants.

Levante beach is also popular for water sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Visitors can hire equipment and take lessons from the many water sports centres on the beach.

Finally, it is also easily accessible by public transport from Valencia city centre, with several bus routes serving the area. It's a popular destination for those looking to enjoy the sun and sea while avoiding the crowds at Malvarrosa beach.
