Top 10 of the most beautiful hotels in the Hammamet region

Djerba is the flagship resort on the Tunisian Riviera. Nestling in the gulf that bears its name, south of Cap Bon, the Hammamet area is home to hundreds of hotels, from the palaces and thalassos of Yasmine Hammamet to the charming dars (Tunisian riads) hidden away in the old medina of Nabeul. In between, lively all-inclusive club hotels, many of them 'adult only', line up in first or second line between Hammamet South (from Yasmine Hammamet to the medina) and Hammamet North (from the medina to Nabeul). Hotels generally offer shuttle services from Tunis airport in the north or Monastir airport in the south, which is the only way to reach Hammamet by air.

There are also some charming authentic dars in the Tunis medina or in the village of Sidi Bou Saïd, while the capital's palaces have made themselves at home in the upmarket Gammarth district, close to the ancient city of Carthage. The hammam is a must, and not just in the aptly named Hammamet, as is the Moorish café where you can smoke shisha with a mint tea accompanied by oriental sweets. Thalasso, dar, club, palace, here are our top hotels in the Hammamet and Tunis region.

In Hammamet North, La Badira, formerly Sultan Beach, was inaugurated on 18 May 2017. The only establishment in Tunisia to be awarded The Leading Hotel of the World label ,La Badira (as luminous as the full moon in Arabic) has established itself as one of Tunisia's emblematic addresses, boasting a Spa by Clarins, two splendid infinity pools, spacious, charming and luxurious rooms and top-flight gastronomy. Adults only...

La Badira is located directly alongside a 300-metre beach in Hammamet's northern hotel zone, just 3 km from the town centre. Its location on a peninsula means you can admire the sea from most of the 130 45 m² rooms. You can opt for one of the ten suites, four Nour (light in Arabic) measuring 120 m² and six Legend measuring 160 m², with their own private infinity pool. Each of the six 'Legend' suites pays tribute to one of the personalities who built the myth of Hammamet: Paul Klee, Jean Cocteau, Georges Sebastian, Claudia Cardinale, Wallis Simpson and August Macke.

This palace also includes a large spa by Clarins with 23 cabins and an indoor heated swimming pool, all on two floors, superbly decorated with fountains and waterfalls. The highlight of this temple of well-being and luxury are the two outdoor infinity pools, with pool-bar and fireplace, surrounded by lawns and gardens scented with jasmine, rosemary and misk ellil (night musk, in Arabic). The black and white, light and shade concept is present throughout, starting with the lobby, where a black room precedes the luminosity and whiteness of the reception area. The hotel also boasts direct access to two private beaches and inventive cuisine in its four restaurants.

The Hasdrubal Thalassa is a very fine hotel in the Tunisian Hasdrubal chain (Hannibal's half-brother, for history lovers), located right on the beach in Yasmine Hammamet. In fact, it is one of only six of the forty or so establishments in the Yasmine Hammamet tourist area to have direct access to the sea. There are only suites, all sumptuous and very spacious, only à la carte restaurants (except for the breakfast buffet), a superb swimming pool and one of the largest and most beautiful thalassotherapy centres in Tunisia. Ideal for getting back into shape whatever the time of year.

Hasdrubal Thalassa's 211 accommodation units are suites only. The one named Villa Salambô even holds the world record for surface area. This presidential suite measures 1,542 m²! As such, it is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. It comprises five spacious bedrooms with private lounges, a large VIP lounge, a magnificent dining room, an outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a private spa. Others will have to make do with an honest 70 m². There are also ten 130 m² prestige suites and five 110 m² ambassador suites.

The jewel in Hammamet's seaside hotel crown, the Hasdrubal Thalassa resembles an elegant set of cubes on either side of its entrance gate: blue and white evoke Tunisia, beige recalls the desert, and the whole is harmonious. Outside, a large 580 m² lagoon pool occupies the centre of a vast garden opening onto a beautiful private beach. The thalassotherapy centre's heated indoor saltwater pool extends outside.

For lunch and dinner, there are four à la carte restaurants, each with its own terrace. Among these options, the Tunisian restaurant is a must not only for its setting but also for its menu, led by a Tunisian chef. Now is the time to try the lamb à la gargoulette (cooked in an earthenware pot), the Berber méchoui or the sautéed swordfish with onion and sultana sauce. For dessert, try Aleppo pine or hazelnut cream. Welcome to the flavours of the Thousand and One Nights!

Then there's the superb 5,500 m² thalassotherapy centre, decorated in Arabo-Moorish style and featuring 31 treatment rooms, including 17 individual massage rooms. You'll particularly appreciate the salt-water marine circuit topped by a glass dome that lets in plenty of light, as well as the bay windows overlooking the sea.

A few tips:Hasdrubal Thalassa Spa is open all year round: if you come in winter, you'll benefit from attractive rates. Children are welcome, but there is nothing really designed for them: no mini-club or play area. The establishment offers half-board or full-board, but there is no all-inclusive package, and entertainment is limited to stretching and aerobics in the spa and live music in the piano bar. So you can rest easy!

Dar Sabri, a charming address hidden away in the heart of Nabeul's medina.

Welcome to Sabri, the French owner of this boutique hotel in the middle of the Nabeul medina, famous for its colourful handmade pottery! We're 12 km north of Hammamet. Four unique suites, a patio, an ultra-fashionable terrace with a small swimming pool, a personalised welcome and a hammam - nothing is missing from this charming address, which subtly blends oriental refinement with western design.

In search of Dar Sabri: don't look for the name of the establishment, it's nowhere to be found. Everything is done to keep the place hidden, and arriving on the first day is like a treasure hunt for those who haven't taken the trouble to organise the transfer from the airport. Everyone in Nabeul knows it, but it's not easy to get there. This is the intention of the French owner, Sabri, who gave his name to the dar. This charming address is housed in an old traditional house that has been welcoming tourists since 2009. There's no reception here, no lobby: you're staying with a local, in a house, with a pretty flower-filled patio adorned with a Tunisian-style fountain, providing calm, freshness and serenity, and a kitchen where you can cook for yourself and use the fridge.

Dar Sabri has four suites, two on the ground floor and two upstairs. The upper level features a designer terrace equipped with sun loungers, stools and bars in an ultra-contemporary style. A small heated infinity pool and traditional hammam complete the space, which is dominated by white prickly pear trees. The 4 x 5 metre pool floor, partly glazed, overlooks the dining room! The ultra-design, high-tech atmosphere of the upstairs terrace contrasts with the traditional ambience of a Tunisian house on the ground floor. Decor lovers are in for a real treat! The high-tech equipment is by the prestigious Danish brand Bang & Olufsen, while the furnishing fabrics are by Kenzo and made using the Tunisian expertise of the talented Anis Khemakhem of Guépard Design. In the bedrooms, the bed linen has been hand-embroidered by Fosdka Hir Boujnah, an embroiderer from Nabeul.

There is no restaurant at Dar Sabri, but Sabri will be happy to recommend the many good restaurants in the medina of Nabeul. In any case, you'll enjoy a splendid traditional Tunisian breakfast from 8.15am. Local produce, homemade jam, cheese, cold meats and freshly squeezed orange juice are sure to get your day off to a great start! Take a look at the ceiling: you're not dreaming, you can see the bottom of the swimming pool just above, and spot any bathers! Cooking classes are organised, after you have fetched the ingredients yourself from the market.

Good to know: There are no rooms specifically for people with reduced mobility. Massages are given directly in your room. Dar Sabri is open all year round. Sabri, the French owner, will show you the best places to eat in the medina, and 1,000 tips for strolling around the old town of Nabeul, renowned for its pottery, earthenware, mats... Lose yourself in the narrow streets, visit the mosque, and have a mint tea on the terrace with the locals, in a traditional atmosphere a world away from the ultra-touristy kasbah of Hammamet!

In the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Saïd, famous for its white and blue houses and its Café des Délices, Villa Bleue is a charming hotel with superb rooms, a traditional spa, two swimming pools and terraced gardens offering breathtaking views. A gourmet restaurant completes this jewel.

Inaugurated in January 2014, Villa Bleue boasts 13 bedrooms, a spa, a gym overlooking the sea and terraced gardens framing two pools, one of which incorporates a whirlpool. Magnificently designed by Italian decorator Edouardo Pi, the décor blends Arabo-Andalusian and contemporary elements. Marble, earthenware, authentic ceramics, fireplaces, chandeliers, basins, columns, zelliges, mosaics and other collector's items have been found in antique shops or salvaged from old houses and small palaces in the Tunis medina, saved from demolition, while the bedding, crockery and fabrics come from the great French luxury houses.

The 13 rooms, ranging in size from 16 to 58 m², are all different. Charming and comfortable, most have splendid sea views. Don't look for your room number, there isn't one, but there are better ones: "Belle Vue", "Eucalyptus", "Iris", "Yasmine", "Rosier", "Olivier"... all names to make you dream, starting with the aptly named "La Tourelle", with the most spectacular view.

The gourmet restaurant serves fine Tunisian cuisine. It seats 25 guests and offers a superb panoramic view. And let's not forget the spa, with its traditional marble hammam and several double treatment and massage rooms for couples.

Palais Bayram: an 18th-century palace in the Tunis medina

In the heart of the Tunis medina, the Palais Bayram is an exceptional 18th-century architectural ensemble. This veritable museum boasts a lovely garden, a small spa with a period hammam and a gourmet restaurant.

An independent hotel not belonging to any hotel group, the Palais Bayram opened its doors on 1 February 2015, after 7 years of restoration of an 18th-century palace, with its marble, ceramics, earthenware and period woodwork. It is enchanting from the moment you enter the lobby, with its old wooden chest straight out of a pirate's tale. The former residence of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Tunisia has established itself as one of the most luxurious hotels in Tunisia, even if it is more for its charm and history than for the quality of its services and comforts, which are superior in some of the country's prestigious hotels. The palace houses a collection of Iznik tiles, very rare in the world, which constitute one of the most remarkable artistic elements of Tunisian heritage.

This prestigious 1,400 m² establishment features 16 elegant and comfortable suites, all different, combining classic furnishings with a touch of design. The painted wooden ceiling is original, and the marble floor is period. The décor is superb, with carpets, mirrors and ceramics on the walls. They are arranged around a superb patio on two levels, a ground floor and an upper floor accessible from the inside, all linked to a second building.

The spa is located in Dar Mammoghly, an 814 m² house adjoining the Bayram palace, in a charming setting with its vaulted hypostyle hall and lovely little garden. A house entirely dedicated to well-being, with two individual massage cabins, a hot pool and a huge traditional hammam under a white dome. This was already the mufti's hammam in the 18th century!

The Makhzen, the etymological ancestor of our shops, was once called the Knights' Hall. It must be said that the place was used to store horses and provisions. Today, this superb vaulted room has become the restaurant of the Palais Bayram. The varied menu offers both the great classics of haute cuisine and refined dishes of traditional Tunisian cuisine. And don't forget that no alcohol is served... From midday to 11pm, gourmets can head to the Surya Tea House, which offers around a hundred top-quality teas, displayed in the style of the old tea counters. To be enjoyed with succulent oriental pastries!

Villa Didon, a luxury design hotel in the heart of the ancient city of Carthage.

A small 10-room establishment located on the hill of Byrsa, the Villa Didon, a tribute to the Phoenician princess Dido, founder of the city of Carthage, is the only design hotel in the Tunis region and one of the few in the country. Wellness, gastronomy and history all come together in an ultra-modern design atmosphere. As well as a spa, this jewel of modernity in the heart of ancient Carthage boasts a bar-restaurant that is a firm favourite with the whole of Tunis.

Set at the top of the Byrsa hill, in the heart of the archaeological park of Carthage, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Villa Didon enjoys both the beauty of the view and the tranquillity of the surroundings. The panorama over the Gulf of Tunis is sumptuous: the Punic ports, the heights of Sidi Bou Saïd, all the way to Cap Bon. Adjacent to the Carthage National Museum, the hotel is just 15 minutes from Tunis Carthage airport and 20 minutes from the Tunis Medina and the Bardo Museum.

Inaugurated in 2004, the Villa Didon is distinguished by its very modern, all-white architecture, with its emphasis on light and transparency. Glass windows play an important role. Architect Philippe Boisselier chose a sober, uncluttered, minimalist style in keeping with the surrounding ruins, an exceptional site steeped in history. Set in lush greenery, amidst hanging Carthaginian gardens, the spa team offers a space for relaxation in the tradition inherited from the Carthaginians and Romans. Hammam inspired by an ancient Greek labyrinth, balneotherapy, beauty treatments, aesthetics and massage will delight guests in search of well-being.

Bathing and sleeping areas merge in the ten design suites named after Phoenician divinities, each with a private balcony overlooking the bay of Tunis. There are 9 junior suites measuring 47 m² and one residential suite, the 90 m² Villa Didon. A bubble bath in the middle of the room, a transparent shower with no curtain so you can admire the view without being seen, a sliding door, a flat-screen TV, transparent chairs designed by Philippe Starck... These suites are bathed in a highly original futuristic atmosphere.

Overlooking the Bay of Tunis, the gastronomic and panoramic 'Rest'ô' replaces Alain Ducasse's Spoon, which closed on 1 September 2005. With its Starck-designed chairs, the restaurant offers inventive cuisine open to the world, with multi-ethnic dishes prepared in front of you in the open kitchen. In a chic, relaxed atmosphere, the aptly named Light bar, with its diamond glazing from Saint-Gobain, and its vast outdoor terraces, invites you to enjoy original cocktails and amuse-bouches.

Four Seasons Tunis, a luxurious palace from the Thousand and One Nights in Tunis.

© Christophe Hiltgen / Easyvoyage

On the seafront in Cap Gammarth, an upmarket suburb of Tunis, the Four Seasons Tunis is one of the finest addresses in Tunisia, where the cuisine, the charming, spacious and comfortable rooms and the Guerlain spa approach perfection. Add a superb mini-club and teen club, two swimming pools including a heated indoor pool at the spa where the hammam and sauna are included, and the splendid outdoor infinity pool and you have one of our favourites in Tunisia, a veritable palace of the Thousand and One Nights!

Situated 26 km north-east of Tunis city centre and its medina, the hotel faces the sea at Cap Gammarth, in the chic suburb of Tunis, part of the municipality of La Marsa, of which it is an arrondissement. The Four Seasons Tunis is just a few minutes from La Marsa, Sidi Bou Saïd and Carthage, and 20 km from Tunis Carthage International Airport. The Four Seasons Tunis is by the sea, but there is no beach.

A member of the prestigious Canadian Four Seasons hotel group, this top-of-the-range establishment houses 203 rooms in a six-storey cream-coloured central building with green roof tiles. The whole is flanked by two wings, forming a U shape around a superb outdoor infinity pool facing the sea. The whole complex is linked by some thirty charming patios featuring a fountain. The majestic, glittering marble lobby is on the 5th floor and boasts a beautiful view of the sea from its Alyssa piano bar. The luxurious Arabic architecture is reminiscent of the Arabian Nights. The floors are served by spacious wood and leather lifts adorned with mirrors. From the restaurant's panoramic breakfast terrace to the sea, via the infinity pool, cascades, pools and fountains unfurl amid the olive trees. The separate mini-club is vast and splendid! It includes a swimming pool and a mini Guignol theatre.

Access to the rooms has to be earned, after wandering through long corridors dotted with patios, but what a reward! All have marble floors embellished with Tunisian carpets and panoramic sea views. The standard rooms are 70 m² in size, so you're sure to feel right at home!

Gastronomy is one of the highlights of the Four Seasons Tunis. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room or on the outdoor terrace overlooking the sea - we'll let you guess our preference... The buffet is very well presented, with everything you need, including freshly squeezed orange juice, of course, but also crêpes, croissants, pancakes, omelettes, homemade Tunisian bread, homemade jam, smoked salmon, pistachios, gluten-free foods and even gratin dauphinois!

In the sun, rarely in the rain, from midday to midnight, there's everything you could want at the Blu Beach Bar and grill, facing the sea, including grilled fish and meat and seafood. Finally, in the evening, you can book a table at the Creek, a chic bistro for dinner. It is located on the 6th and top floor of the establishment, and welcomes you through a beautiful studded wooden door, with a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, once again! However, there is no Moorish café, which is rare in Tunisia.

The luxurious 2,000 m² Guerlain spa, all in Indian marble, is enhanced by luminous patios with a Roman touch. It includes a heated indoor swimming pool lit by daylight and regularly changing colour. It is freely accessible, as are the sauna, the traditional hammam and the large hot whirlpool. In a relaxing musical atmosphere with a pleasant scent, you can sip an herbal tea in a small relaxation room or in the outdoor gardens. The menu includes scrubs and massages using top-of-the-range cosmetics from the prestigious French brand Guerlain.

The Sindbad, luxury, calm, charm, well-being and gastronomy opposite the Hammamet Kasbah.

Cuisine, charm, character, courtesy, tranquillity, The Sindbad easily fulfils the 5 C's of a Relais et Château, even if it isn't one. Among the multitude of club hotels in the Hammamet region, here is an address that stands out from the crowd. A perfect establishment for couples seeking a romantic, refined and tranquil atmosphere, bathed in the scent of jasmine and grapefruit. This charming establishment enjoys a beautiful seafront location, with panoramic views over the Hammamet Kasbah. You'll love the charm of its gardens and architecture, the comfort of its rooms, the gastronomy of its six restaurants, its three swimming pools, including an infinity pool facing the sea, and its spa. Clearly one of the most attractive hotels in Hammamet. One of our favourites.

The Sindbad is admirably located on the seafront, 1.5 km south of Hammamet's medina, which can be admired from the pools and beach. Built in 1966, the Sindbad is made up of several pavilions housing 145 rooms and 9 suites, all set in 2.5 hectares of flower-filled gardens. Special mention should be made of the infinity pool, which merges with the sea. From here, you have a beautiful view of the medina and the whole of the Gulf of Hammamet!

The rooms have garden views, while the suites have sea views. Whenever possible, book your accommodation in a suite, or try to get an upgrade on the spot: the large terrace overlooking the beach (and the panoramic view of Hammamet's medina that goes with it), with which each suite is equipped, is well worth the effort. The décor is particularly tasteful, with wrought-iron furniture and brightly-coloured drapes. The entrance is through a superb Arabic door. On the bed, as a welcome gift, guests will find a fouta, a large cotton towel typical of Tunisia.

With no fewer than six restaurants, you won't starve at the Sindbad! Forget the undrinkable artificial fruit juices of hotel clubs: here, you can enjoy squeezed orange juice! For lunch, the Le Voilier barbecue-grill overlooking the beach offers a truly remarkable setting, with elegant tables and panoramic views over the medina and the Gulf of Hammamet. The chill-out lounge in the infinity pool offers a la carte snacks. In the evening, to enjoy the gastronomic delights of the Shiraz à la carte gourmet restaurant, located near the lobby, it is best to make a reservation.

There are only 110 seats, including 50 on the terrace. If you prefer Asian cuisine, head for the Thai à la carte restaurant on the street side. Access is via a charming little square which also leads to pub 19, a little slice of Ireland, where you can drink good Guinness while playing pool or watching a football match. Except that it caters more to the golfing clientele who like to come to the Sindbad. 19, in fact, refers to the 19th hole, i.e. the 3rd half for golfers! The 6th restaurant, on the beach, remains to be mentioned. Here again, you can enjoy the view of the Hammamet Kasbah!

The Sindbad hotel's private beach is at the foot of the hotel. It is long but narrow (150 m long and 20 m wide). It is nonetheless very pleasant. The facilities (parasols, deckchairs with mattresses, showers and toilets) are free of charge. However, there are no water sports on offer. The Beach restaurant is open from midday to 5pm, and the bar from 10am to 6pm. Service is on the spot (you don't have to go anywhere!). You can sip your cocktail while admiring the Hammamet Kasbah on your left. The sand is fine, the water turquoise, and bathing is supervised, with a flag.

Good to know: Open all year round, The Sindbad is an independent hotel offering half-board. The distances are quite great and you can sometimes get lost in this 2.5 hectare labyrinth. There are no facilities for people with reduced mobility (no ramps or dedicated rooms). Wi-Fi internet access is free everywhere, including in the rooms. A free shuttle service runs every 30 minutes to the Citrus and Yasmine golf courses.

The Delfino Beach Resort boasts a host of sports and leisure facilities, including a superb mini-club, four swimming pools including an indoor heated spa pool, and a choice of quality restaurants, including an excellent buffet where you can enjoy a freshly squeezed orange juice on the terrace while admiring the sea. Offering a 24-hour all-inclusive package, it will appeal to families, sports fans and wellness enthusiasts alike. It is set in 10 hectares of lush gardens and orange groves between Hammamet and Nabeul, on the front line of one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Bonus: free introduction to catamaran sailing and windsurfing. A real favourite!

Nestling in 10 hectares of lush gardens and orange groves, Delfino Beach houses 321 rooms in five small two-storey buildings or bungalows. You'll come across plenty of cats, who have their own little kennels here and there, resembling miniature cottages. As for you, there are four swimming pools to choose from!

Reserved for adults, the three-leaf clover-shaped pool is perfect for relaxing. A sign indicates that you need to put your mobile phone on silent. There's also a heated indoor pool at the spa and a children's pool at the mini-club.

The sports facilities are impressive! Eleven clay tennis courts, a basketball court, an artificial turf football pitch, two beach volleyball courts, four petanque courts, an archery range and a gym. There's even a six-hole mini-golf course and a golf practice range!

The rooms are air-conditioned and spacious, 28 m², but if you want even more space, don't worry, opt for one of the 80 family rooms of 50 m², or even better, one of the four suites of 68 m². The red floor tiles with carpets, contrasting with the white walls adorned with a large mirror, add a certain charm to the wood panelling.

The wellness centre houses a large indoor swimming pool (heated in winter), a large fitness and dance room with a coach available free of charge, a weights room, seven massage cabins, beauty cabins and a relaxation room (for nudists from 5pm). The three saunas and hammam are freely accessible.

The mini-club is superb, with its swimming pool, six-hole mini-golf course, mini multi-sports court for basketball and tennis, outdoor stage for entertainment, obstacle course, trampoline and large pirate ship!

Dining is one of the resort's many strong points. The well-presented buffet in the main restaurant offers international cuisine with show cooking and themed evenings. Delicious crêpes and pancakes are prepared in front of you, and orange juice is squeezed out for you à la minute - a rarity in the clubs! There's also cucumber juice... To top it all off, you can sit out on the terrace and admire the sea. Another highlight is the 24-hour all-inclusive snack service. For early risers, a sunrise breakfast is organised once a week at 5am!

An eco-friendly club: plastic is banned, an organic meal is served at the buffet as part of the eco awareness day organised once a week, and there are no baths in the rooms.

Club Salammbô, an all-inclusive club facing a beautiful beach in southern Hammamet

© Christophe Hiltgen / Easyvoyage

Ideally located on the edge of one of the most beautiful beaches in the Hammamet region, Club Salammbô is one of the best value-for-money resorts, with its vast beach, top-quality catering, buffet terrace directly overlooking the beach, charming traditional Menzel-style homes and a host of facilities including a water park, spa, mini-club, teen club and numerous sports facilities. An all-inclusive club, ideal for families, wellness enthusiasts and sports fans. Free Wi-Fi throughout.

The Salammbô is next door to the Mirage Beach Club, formerly Club Med Hammamet, which gives you an idea of the ideal location, as Club Med is always situated in the best spots. In fact, the Salammbô is located directly alongside one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole Hammamet region, in the south hotel zone, 5km south of Hammamet town centre and 2km north of Yasmine Hammamet. The estate is spacious (3 hectares), so everyone can feel at ease, even when the hotel is full. On the other hand, the distances are long and you'll have to walk! Which is just as well if you want to get rid of all the delicious food on offer in the various restaurants!

Built in 1966 right next to the site of Hammamet's former Club Med, the Salammbô has continued to innovate under the impetus of its dynamic management. The charming menzels, which were very successful but more basic in comfort, are now reserved for staff. The 256 rooms (traditional menzel style) are divided between two white buildings with blue shutters and balconies (in short, the Tunisian colours!) in the heart of a three-hectare estate planted with eucalyptus, palm trees, prickly pear trees, oleanders and mimosas. It's a welcome change from the overcrowding of 500 guests in high season!

Here, a siesta at the zenith takes place in a paved area equipped with beige canvas parasols and wooden deckchairs with mattresses - rather classy for a 3-star hotel! The beach is just a few metres away and the pool faces the sea. A water park with eight slides was inaugurated on 1 June 2018.

Catering is one of the pleasures of a successful holiday and contributes greatly to the success of a stay. The least we can say is that this mission is more than fulfilled at the Salammbô! First criterion, the location: bingo! Situated directly opposite the beach, the main restaurant, Les Citronniers, allows you to admire the view of the Mediterranean while savouring the delicious cuisine concocted by a Tunisian chef. While the terrace is often limited to the smallest of portions, here it's the opposite: 220 seats in the air-conditioned dining room (the bay windows allow you to admire the view) and 500 on the terrace!

Even the show cooking stands are outside! Secondly, the cuisine is tasty, varied and plentiful, with a Tunisian corner each day where a speciality from the country is simmered over coals. We'll even give you the recipe to go with it! The indoor dining room is beautifully decorated with its vaulted ceiling, while children have their own dedicated area, where the chef's pizzas and pastas feature prominently. Breakfast is one of the best in Hammamet, with fresh orange juice, Tunisian specialities, fresh fruit, delicious crêpes, fritters and omelettes, tasty marbled cakes and warm croissants. The homemade quince, apple and apricot jam is excellent! In short, as you will have gathered, you don't come to the Salammbô to go on a diet...

As for the Moorish café, it awaits you in a pretty oriental setting from 11am to midnight to smoke a chicha (for a fee) and drink a mint tea (free from 4pm). You can also sit outside.

The hotel's strong point is its 500-metre beach of fine, soft golden sand right at the foot of the hotel. It is clean, which is unfortunately not always the case in the Hammamet region. The facilities (deckchairs, parasols, etc.) are provided free of charge to guests. To enjoy the azure sea, you can opt for a swim or visit the sailing club, which offers free windsurfing boards, pedal boats, canoes and kayaks. Other activities are available for a fee: banana boat, jet ski, parasailing, water skiing and catamaran. Not included in the package, the beach snack bar looks like a chill-out lounge with its large mattresses and comfortable sofas, shaded by pergolas. An ideal setting for beach parties! It's not unusual to see camels strolling along the beach. On the right, you can see the pirate ships cruising off the coast of Yasmine Hammamet, just 3km away. On the left, the citadel of Hammamet can be seen in the distance.
