The history of the Hurghada City Museum

The Hurghada Museum was created to preserve and present the history and culture of the Hurghada region, the Red Sea and Egypt in general.

The cultural institution was created in parallel with the expansion of tourism in the Egyptian city in the 1990s.

What can you see at the Hurghada Museum?

The Hurghada Museum focuses on the history and culture of the region and the Red Sea, with a collection of archaeological and historical objects dating back to antiquity, as well as artefacts from the daily lives of the local inhabitants and indigenous peoples, such as the Bedouin.

Visitors can discover objects made of stone, terracotta, wood and metal, as well as jewellery, weapons and tools dating from different periods in the region's history.

There is also a section devoted to the marine life and ecosystems of the Red Sea, with specimens of fish, crustaceans and other marine animals.

It's an interesting cultural visit to understand Egypt and its customs.

The museum also houses exhibitions on the culture and traditions of the inhabitants of the Red Sea, as well as on the history of diving in the Red Sea and on corals and coral reefs.
