The Tanneron, a massif covered in mimosa

🌲 🥾 Located to the east of the Estérel massif, the Tanneron massif is renowned for the dazzling colour of its mimosa trees. Spread over more than 5,000 hectares, the massif is an invitation to hike!

The mimosa trees flood the Côte d'Azur with colour in winter, when the deep blue sky contrasts wonderfully with the buttercups on the trees...

In fact, the site is covered in mimosas, imported from Australia in 1839. The mimosa then colonised the forests of the Tanneron massif from the 1870s onwards.

Today, different species of mimosa can be seen on the rugged terrain of the Tanneron massif.

Discovering the Tanneron massif

⛰️ In the north-east of the massif, the beautiful hilltop village ofAuribeau-sur-Siagne is one of the gateways to the Tanneron massif.

In Auribeau, don't miss the old village overlooking the Siagne river.

The charming little streets lead to the church square. From this little square, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the Tanneron massif and, further afield, the town of Grasse.

Further south, the massif can be accessed from the town of Mandelieu-la-Napoule. Follow the D92 road as it rises through a canopy of mimosa and pine trees.

This little forest road offers superb views of the Estérel massif. If you allow yourself a break, you can also see the Bay of Cannes and the peaks of the Southern Alps in the distance.

A discovery trail has been laid out in the undergrowth of the Grand-Duc forest. You can also access the GR 51 long-distance hiking trail.

In this unspoilt area, there are around thirty kilometres of footpaths!

A perfect destination for the whole family (picnic tables are provided for a welcome lunch break).
