Villefranche-sur-Mer, a port with multiple functions

Founded in the 14th century, Villefranche was both a major trading port and a fishing port.

Today, the seaside town still has a small local fishing industry.

However, its formidable sheltered harbour is mainly used as a landing point for numerous cruise ships.

The peak season is between June and September.

The harbour at Villefranche-sur-Mer is a superb place, with breathtaking views in places!

Framed by Mont Boron to the south-west, the harbour meets the beautiful beaches of Villefranche and Les Marinières.

To the east, the bay ends at the prestigious peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
