Tsambika, one of Rhodes' most beautiful beaches

Rhodes is a major tourist destination in Greece: the source of this success is the generous sunshine throughout the season, the blue Aegean Sea and the large sandy beaches on the north-east coast, such as Tsambika beach. Framed by two rocky points, protected from the wind and boasting turquoise water and golden sand, Tsambika has all the makings of a dream beach... It also escapes the large constructions that sometimes spoil the landscape along Rhodes' coastline, giving it the reputation of being the most beautiful beach on the island! Unless you're travelling out of season, however, don't expect a deserted or wild beach: Tsambika is very popular and gets very busy in summer, offering canteens, parasols and deckchairs, as well as a host of seaside activities: enough to keep you busy all day.

Tsambika beach, a paradise on earth

Given the number of beaches and coves lining the Rhodian coastline, you need some serious assets to make it to the top of the list of the island's most beautiful beaches! Tsambika ticks a number of boxes: firstly, the fine sand, a speciality of Rhodes' east coast, is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. A good point!

Then there's the sea: it's a bit like the Epinal image we have of the ideal Greek beach, turquoise blue water, perfectly clear at the edge of the beach, and gradually getting shallower as you go further out. Perfect for youngsters, who don't risk much here. The Aegean Sea, on the east coast of Rhodes, is renowned for its placidity: the heights of the island form a barrier against the onslaught of the meltem that blows over the Greek islands in summer, and the water remains calm in all circumstances! In short, kitesurfing enthusiasts go to the south or west of the island, but not to Tsambika.

Tsambika still has a wild feel to it in the off-season, as it has not been built on: a big plus on Rhodes! But that doesn't mean it's a deserted beach, far from everything: well connected by road, it's easy to get to and remains very popular with tourists and Rhodians alike, who visit with their families at the weekend.

Spend the day on this beach

The fashionable thing to do in Rhodes in summer is to spend the whole day lounging on the beach, going in and out of the water to cool off. At Tsambika, there's plenty of time to linger for long hours, enjoying the surroundings, the activities on offer on the beach and THE local walk: the chapel of Panagia Tsambika Kyra.

First of all, in a typical Greek way of organising your time on the beach, you'll find everything you need in Tsambika to keep you fed all day long! The seafront is home to several cantinas, small beach restaurants typical of the Greek islands, where you can eat a Greek salad, a tzatziki and an omelette, and sip iced coffees with your feet in the water. Of course, each canteen has its own rows of deckchairs and parasols, so you can enjoy the shade. Tsambika beach is also a paradise for beach activities, with two water sports centres vying with each other to entertain beach-goers. Children won't want to leave the two floating (and safe!) waterparks, while adults can try their hand at banana boats, towed buoys, water-skiing or parasailing to get the most out of the water.
