Descending the Guisane

In summer, the Serre Chevalier Vallée Briançon resort is very attractive and offers a wide range of activities to help you make the most of your holiday. Are you a sports fan? You're going to love your mountain holidays in summer. There's no skiing, but plenty of other sports to try out, including all the white water sports. The resort is ideal for unlimited activities. In winter, you can spend your holidays on the snow and in summer on the water. It will be a little chilly, but with a neoprene wetsuit, you'll love jumping into the river. There's no limit to the number of ways you can paddle down the 27.7km-long Guisane, which rises at the Col du Lautaret and passes through several of the resort's villages: Monêtier-le-Bains, La Salle-les-Alpes, Saint Chaffrey and Briançon. You can try your hand at rafting, kayaking, canorafting, air boating, hydrospeed and, if you're not too keen on thrills, there's also a great paddle spot.

White water sports are clearly one of the main activities to do in Serre Chevalier Vallée Briançon, along with mountain biking and hiking. There's plenty of choice when it comes to enjoying them.

Rafting

Rafting is a white-water team sport. It involves descending a current of water on an inflatable boat that usually holds 8 people. On some sections, the team-mates will have to get on well together, as they will have to pass rapids, avoid rocks and, above all, not be afraid of getting drenched. Almost anyone can go rafting, you just need to be able to swim, as with any water sport.

On the Guisane, you can do discovery rafting from the age of 6. The route runs from Monêtier-le-Bains to Saint Chaffrey, 10km for half a day to spend with the family on the Haute Guisane.

The more athletic route is on the Basse Guisane from Villeneuve to Briançon, with more technical rapids. An activity for 16-year-olds and over.

👛 Prices:

Between 45€ and 55€ for a half-day outing.

105€ for a full-day outing with lunch by the river.

Kayaking

On the Guisane, you can choose between two types of kayak: inflatable kayak and river kayak. Although you can hire a kayak, it's important to take a guide down the Guisane if you're not used to doing it often. You need to be over 14 and in good physical condition. There are also half-day courses to help you improve your skills. For younger children, the activity takes place on the Pontillas lake.

👛 Prices:From €40 for half a day.

Canoraft

A cross between a canoe and a raft, a canoraft is a two-seater inflatable craft that's easy enough to manoeuvre on the river, so you can make the most of your outing and get plenty of thrills while staying safe in the currents. As with rafting, this outing is supervised by an instructor. You must be 14 years old and know how to swim to take part in this activity.

Prices: From €50 for half a day.

By Air Boat

Based on the same principle as the canoraft, the air boat is an inflatable boat for one person. Just as manoeuvrable, you'll love going on an Air Boat in a group or private lesson.

👛Prices: Between €30 and €45 for a group outing and €149 to €224 for a private lesson.

Hydrospeed

You'll be at one with nature as you swim in white water, using a float and flippers to steer you. It's the ultimate thrill-seeking activity for your holidays. There are several routes to choose from: discovery from age 9 with a 3km descent, classic from age 14 with a 5km run on the Guisane, and sporty from age 14 with the same distance but with 2 kilometres of continuous rapids. You'll need to be in good physical condition as you're in for a good shake-up.

👛 Prices:Between €30 and €45 including equipment.
