Agadir's most beautiful beaches

Agadir is famous for its immense and magnificent beaches, which stretch for many kilometres from north to south. Tourists and locals alike enjoy a variety of water sports, including surfing, which is a very popular activity in the town. Agadir's beaches attract new visitors every year, and between the horse and camel rides and the resplendent sunsets, you'll never be bored.

All the hotels along the coast offer panoramic sea views from their rooms. Whether you're with family or friends, you'll have a great time on Agadir's beaches, between relaxing and sunbathing, taking full advantage of the mild climate. With 300 days of sunshine a year, these little moments of relaxation will immerse you in a pleasant atmosphere.

The beach in Agadir

While Agadir's different beaches do not all suffer from the same maritime situation, since some are protected by bays or reefs that reduce or increase the force of the wind and waves, Agadir's main beach has all the characteristics of a paradise. Agadir is THE seaside resort of Morocco. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, the tourist city boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of North Africa.

It stretches for 6 kilometres from the marina to the Cité Founty seaside district. It is lined with hotels, restaurants, bars and shops. The seafront has thus become a fashionable spot on the Moroccan Atlantic coast, where sea bathing, sunbathing and lazing around are the main distractions...

It's a very busy area, offering an ideal setting for adults and children alike, who will also feel safe in the calm waters protected from the breeze. Its length means that the area is sparsely populated and therefore less oppressive, so you won't have to search for a spot for long minutes to avoid being squeezed in with people.

Taghazout beach

A fishing village surrounded by the mountains of the High Atlas, Taghazout beach is 15 kilometres north of Agadir and is accessible by bus, which leaves from the centre of Agadir every 30 minutes and costs 5 dirhams (50 centimes). It's the ideal and best-known surfing spot in Morocco. While swimming, you can admire those who enjoy this activity while keeping your distance.

From here, you can watch the Pointe des Ancres, the best-known spot for surfing. Its dynamic waves, its wind and its slightly wild side are what attract most tourists. You can also take a hot-air balloon ride from Taghazout beach, which offers beautiful panoramic views over the bay. For added safety, the beach is supervised during the summer months, although the beaches are not really that high.

Aourir Beach

Known as the "banana village", Aourir beach is 3 kilometres long and 12 kilometres from Agadir. You can get there by car, as there is a car park close to the beach. It combines the sea and the mountains. This name was given to it by Jimi Hendrix in the 1960s, when many bananas were grown in the region and then sold at the roadside.

If you like surfing, this is the perfect place to improve your skills or even to start out. Suitable for families with children and the elderly, there's no need to worry, as access to the water is easy. If you fancy a bite to eat, there's a bar right on the beach.

Tifnit Beach

Tifnit Beach is one of the lesser-known beaches, yet one of the most authentic. If you don't have your own car, you can hire one from one of the agencies in Agadir town centre. Its wild side includes a surf spot. You can swim, surf, walk and even fish. A landing point for fish products has been set up with the aim of selling them on the region's markets and developing this sector in particular.

As far as swimming is concerned, beware of the waves, which can be powerful, making surfers very happy. Tifnit beach is located in the Souss Massa national park, where you can watch the animals.
