An avenue that lives up to its name

The Walk Of ** Fame** is the perfect place for film buffs. Its history began in 1958 with the inauguration of the first star for the American actress Joanne Woodward. Since then, more than 2,300 stars have lit up between the pavements of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Since 1978, the Walk Of Fame has been listed as a historic monument in Los Angeles.

Who do we meet along The Walk of Fame?

The list of winners is impressive: in film, James Cameron, Jennifer Aniston, Javier Bardem, Viola Davis, Dean Martin, James Franco and Tom Cruise. In music, the list includes Britney Spears, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. They are certainly not the best known, but some fictional characters also have the right to their own star, such as Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, The Simpsons, Shrek and Snow White. To help you, maps are sold on site, or guides offer a tour of all these stars. During this walk, the guide always has a little anecdote to tell about the star or celebrity in question.

Must-sees on Hollywood Boulevard

Walking on the stars of the most famous celebrities and bumping into cosplays aren't the only things to do on a trip to Hollywood Boulevard. The street is packed with interesting things to see and do to stay in the world of glitz and glamour. Here's a small selection to help tourists organise their visit.

The Chinese Theatre

Its unique architecture makes it impossible to miss. With its appearance of a giant Asian pagoda, Grauman's Chinese Theatre is a giant cinema now equipped with a 29-metre IMAX screen, making it one of the largest in the world. The Oscar ceremony is held there. If you don't go inside, you absolutely must stop off here, if only to admire the cement slabs in which many celebrities have left their handprints, starting with Marylin Monroe and Humphrey Bogart.

Practical information about Hollywood Boulevard

🚌 Getting there: it's impossible to miss Hollywood Boulevard on a trip to Los Angeles. Just look at where the tourist buses go to find out where the famous avenue is. It crosses the city from east to west, running from Vermont Avenue to Sunset Boulevard. The avenue can be reached by taking the Santa Monica / Crescent bus to Hollywood Boulevard and getting off at the stop of the same name. Los Angeles Metro line 4 is another option.

⚠️ Caution: when you say "tourist spot", you mean "potential excesses". Be careful with your personal belongings, as the crowds could give some rascals the wrong idea. However, for those who want to take a few souvenir photos with iconic film characters, it's best to bring some change, as this is how the actors dressed up on the boulevard are paid. As in the rest of the country, remember that prices are displayed "tax free", so don't be surprised if the price has risen slightly at the checkout, as tax is added when you pay for your purchases.
