When to go to Kandy
In general, temperatures in Kandy range from 17°C to 39°C throughout the year. Because of its altitude, Kandy is often misty and humid.
The rainy season
In the centre and north of the island, the rainy season, also known as the short monsoon, begins in November and ends in January. Despite this, the climate remains pleasant. Kandy is 500 metres above sea level. As a result, it is colder than in the rest of the country and the atmosphere is more or less humid. Fog is not uncommon, especially in the late afternoon.
The dry season
The dry season begins in February and ends in October. During this period, temperatures are warmer throughout the country. Although this is a pleasant time of year to visit, you should be aware that the skies are cloudy during the dry season and that Kandy is a long way from the sea.

Covid-19 in Sri Lanka

If travellers have not been vaccinated, they will have to undergo a PCR test within 72 hours of boarding, or an antigen test within 48 hours. In all cases, self-tests are prohibited, and travellers are not required to undergo a test on arrival in Sri Lanka.
