Paradise Valley

Better known as "Paradise Valley", Paradise Valley is located in the mountains of the Western High Atlas. Its natural pools and bucolic setting make it one of Agadir's most popular tourist destinations. The Paradise Valley covers an area of around 30 km, so as visitors you can contemplate the magnificent waterfalls and enjoy the pools, landscapes and most beautiful hiking trails. Explore the surroundings of the Vallée du Paradis, through the mountainous lanes on the honey route in the small village of Imouzzer, and share good local meals in traditional restaurants.

The history of Paradise Valley

Vallée du Paradis began to make a name for itself in the 1960s. At the time, a German couple had discovered its therapeutic virtues. The woman, who was suffering from a skin disease, was miraculously cured after bathing in the natural waters. The area is now renowned for its healing properties. To this day, locals and tourists alike flock to visit these exceptional springs for their effects as much as for their beauty.

Why visit Paradise Valley?

Located around 20km north of Agadir, Paradise Valley is a favourite destination for locals and tourists alike. Its abundance of rock pools and small waterfalls transport us into an idyllic world. The road to get there is lined with palm groves and wild landscapes that will take your breath away. It's a great place to spend some time, enjoying the pools and the magnificent views.

This oasis, with its natural pools and surrounded by palm trees, argan trees, oleanders and sumptuous mountains, is the ideal place to spend a relaxing moment, and to have fun jumping off cliffs for the more adventurous! During very dry spells, the water is very shallow, making it difficult to swim or jump.

Along the way, you'll discover a host of restaurants serving traditional Moroccan meals, and you'll be framed by a panoramic view of the most beautiful landscapes. Some have set up tables in the rivers, so you can enjoy your meal while taking in the freshness of the sparkling waters, not forgetting a natural fish spa.

A little further up you'll reach the village of Imouzzer (which means waterfall in Berber). Renowned for its uniquely flavoured honey, it is situated at an altitude of over 1250 metres. You'll have the chance to admire the waterfalls of Imouzzer Ida Outanane, home to the Ida Ouatane confederation of Berbers. The village is also home to the Win-Timdouine caves, one of Africa's largest tribes. The name means "cave of lakes", and the abundance of water comes from underground lakes.

Advice from the Editor

🥾 Bathing suits are essential for those who want to get wet, and suitable footwear is a must. The route can be challenging, and you may come across steps that are a little too steep or climb rocks that are slightly slippery. It's important to check the weather forecast before setting off, as roads can be inaccessible and sometimes damaged by bad weather. Don't forget to bring plenty of water, a cap and sun cream!
